ETSC adheres to Reformed Presbyterian theology that is founded on the Word of God, in accordance with the constitution of the Evangelical Presbyterian Church in Egypt and the 2006 Confession of Faith as approved by the Synod of the Nile.
Statement of Faith
We confess:
- The sovereignty and grace of the one God, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, in creation, providence, revelation, salvation, and final judgment.
- The divine inspiration, infallibility, and authority of Scripture as the foundation of faith and practice.
- The depravity of human nature, our worthiness as individuals and communities of God’s judgment, and our need for his salvation.
- The great value of every human being, on account of being created in the image of God and of being the focus of his love and care.
- The virgin birth of the Lord Jesus Christ, the incarnate Son of God, his life, death on the cross, and resurrection, and his being the only way to salvation from the judgement and consequences of sin.
- The justification of sinners by the grace of God, through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and his atoning work.
- The ongoing work of the Holy Spirit in the sustenance and renewal of creation and in the illumination, renewal, and sanctification of humans to respond to the saving grace of God in grateful obedience.
- The priesthood of all believers who together constitute the one universal church, the body that has Christ as its head and that is led by the Holy Spirit.
- God’s call to the church to give herself for God’s holistic mission to the world, loving and serving all human beings and bearing witness to her Master in word and deed to all creation.
- The coming of the Lord Jesus Christ at the end of the age, the consummation of his kingdom, his final and absolute triumph, the judgment of the wicked, the resurrection of the dead, and life of the age to come.
