Mody Yacoub (b. 1983) serves as Assistant Lecturer in Systematic Theology at the Evangelical Theological Seminary in Cairo (ETSC). He is currently pursuing a PhD at the Theological University Utrecht, the Netherlands, where he is affiliated with the Neo-Calvinism Research Institute (NRI). He also participates in PhD research groups at the Protestant Theological University (PThU) in Utrecht and at the School of Humanities, Philosophy Department, Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam.
He holds a Bachelor of Arts in History from Minya University (2004), a Master of Divinity (M.Div.) from ETSC (2020), and a Master in Intercultural Reformed Theology (MIRT) from the Theological University Kampen-Utrecht (2023). His academic formation is complemented by a Certificate of Leadership from Haggai International Institute (USA, 2022), as well as diplomas in business management, human resources, human development, and information technology (2006 to 2017).
Mody’s research engages Christian analytic philosophy and Islamic thought, with particular focus on freedom, responsibility, and divine sovereignty. His master’s thesis “Existential Anxiety in Egypt: An Analytical and Philosophical Vision and a Reformed Christian View” (Theologische Universiteit Kampen | Utrecht, 2023) is available online. He has authored several Arabic-language theological resources, including Ethics: Between Relative Belief and Evidential Content (Shield Series, Hope for All, 2024–2025), The Rational Christian Belief Worldview (Shield Series, Hope for All, 2024–2025), and a six-topic apologetics resource on rational Christian belief prepared for the Christian Discipline Council and the Higher Youth Committee of the Synod (2024–2025).
In addition to academic publications, he has contributed widely to popular theological discourse, with articles in El-Nossor Magazine (CEOSS) on ethics (2021) and theological education in the era of artificial intelligence (2024–2025), as well as essays in Huda Magazine (2022) and Aghsan Al Karma (2022).
Beyond his academic and teaching responsibilities, Mody is committed to strengthening theological education and fostering dialogue between Christian and Islamic thought in Egypt and internationally. He is married to Marian, who serves as Vice Manager for Capacity Building and Gender Programs at CEOSS and is currently pursuing the MLM program at ETSC. Together they have two daughters, Mayly and Melania.
